Les Poupées de Mode – Piavole de Franza

Queste bambole diventano oggetto di animata discussione nelle corti italiane, inglesi e francesi;
si prestano spesso come regalo di nozze; decorano la
stanza dei ninnoli nelle case nobiliari di mezza Europa,
in Francia, l’Hotel de Rambouillet e le Précieuses
dedicano mostre a tali fragili manichini di cera,
di legno o di porcellana, cui si cambiava l’abito secondo
la stagione. Ben presto, i negozi della rue Saint-Honoré
si organizzano per la fabbricazione, l’abbigliamento e la
vendita delle inanimate emissarie della moda parigina
ai quattro angoli dell’Europa e del mondo. In tempo
di guerra, per garantire il loro arrivo a destinazione,
si riconosce l’immunità diplomatica, o addirittura si
scortano con armati a cavallo le minuscole Pandore vestite di sola biancheria intima o di succinte vestaglie,e le Pandore in grandezza naturale, vestite degli abiti  più sontuosi.

Spose di gran visir nel serraglio, zarine e principesse di Pietroburgo e di Mosca, margravi tedeschi e granduchesse inglesi si interrogano ansiose sulle date  di spedizione, contano i giorni in attesa delle consegne; bambole vengono spedite alle signore più in vista del Nuovo Mondo, che per nessun motivo vogliono rimanere indietro con le mode; e persino le spie se ne servono per nascondere i propri messaggi.

These dolls become object of an animated discussion in the Italian, English and French courts; they are often good as a wedding present; they decorate the room of the trinkets in the houses of the rich/titled people in half Europe and, in France, the “Hotel de Rambouillet” and the “Précieuses” dedicate exhibitions to those fragile mannequins made of wax, wood or porcelain, they used to change the dress according to the season. Very soon, the shops in “rue Saint-Honoré” get ready for the making, the clothing and the selling of the inanimate representative of the Parisian fashion to the whole Europe and to the world. During the war times, in order to guarantee that they reached their destination, they get diplomatic immunity, or are even escorted with soldier on horses those tiny Pandoras dressed only with underwear or with succinct dressing gowns, and the Pandoras in natural size, dressed up with the most beautiful clothes. Grand vizier’s brides in the menagerie, tsarinas and princesses from S. Petersburg and Moscow, German marquises and English grand duchesses consult anxiously each other about the dispatch dates, they count the days they have to wait for the deliveries; some dolls are sent to the most famous ladies in the New World, since those ladies strongly want to be updated with the last trends in fashion; even the spies use them for hiding messages.

La Piccola Galleria del Costume,
tre secoli di storia del costume in quindici abiti.

Il progetto didattico-culturale prende spunto dalla storia del costume. Nel Seicento Luigi XIV è il monarca
assoluto di Francia e di certo il re più potente d’Europa. Grande è il suo interesse per l’arte che sconfina in
quell’arte minore che è il costume, tanto da tramutare la moda, termine nato allora, in un affare di stato.
Affare in senso economico, il re foraggia l’industria tessile come non mai e la corte di Versailles detta legge
in fatto di moda su tutta Europa. La Francia del re sole inventa le Les Poupées de Mode (le bambole alla moda
a Venezia chiamate Piavole de Franza) manichini, a volte piccoli a volte in grandezza reale, abbigliati con la
moda francese che la corte invia alle altre corti europee due volte l’anno: questo è lo stile a voi l’ispirazione.

Questa breve e  semplice spiegazione per raccontare la moda e come si è diffusa nel tempo –

Un progetto che nasce da un’idea del  sig.  Michele Vello,  il quale crea  una serie di miniature che percorrono tre secoli di storia –

i capi sono riproduzioni storiche che si trovano negli archivi dei  musei di storia del costume –

i cartamodelli sono tratti da libri storici e quindi i tagli , la costruzione  e le lavorazioni sono originali dell’epoca –

questi  capi sono volutamente bianchi per mettere in risalto le diverse tipologie che si trasformano nei tre secoli presi in considerazione ( il Cinquecento – il Seicento – Il settecento – )

In una Location di grande valore artistico e di una bellezza  inestimabile quale è Villa Emo ( Fanzolo  Tv ) è possibile visitare questa mini collezzione –

A breve ci saranno anche dei capi con  dimensioni reali e tessuti colorati a completare  la mostra ( verso  fine Agosto  )

  The small Gallery of the Costume, three centuries of history of the costume in fifteen dresses.

The educational-cultural project is inspired by the history of the costume. In 1600 Louis XIV is the absolute monarch of France and the most powerful king in Europe. He’s so interested in art as well as in that lower art which is the costume, so that he changes fashion, term born in those days, into a big official business.
It’s a real deal in the economic meaning, the king bankrolls the textile factories now more than ever and the court of Versailles imposes the rules about fashion all over Europe. The France of the “Sun King” invents “Les Poupées de Mode” mannequins (the dolls a la mode/smart in Venice called “Piavole de Franza”), sometimes they’re small other times they’re real size, dressed with French fashion that the court sends to the other European courts twice a year: this is the style, the inspiration is up to you.

This is a short and simple explanation to tell about fashion and how it has spread during the years –

It’s a project born from one of Mister Michele Vello’s ideas: he creates a series of miniatures that go through three centuries of history –

The dresses are historical reproductions which are in the archives of the museums of history of the costume –

the paper patterns are taken from historical books and so the cuts, the construction and the manufacturing are original from that time –

the dresses are intentionally white in order to show the different types that change in the three centuries considered (year 1500 – 1600 – 1700)

In a Location of great artistic value and of priceless beauty such as Villa Emo (Fanzolo, Treviso) it’s possible to visit this mini collection –
